On the left hand side there is Europe’s largest chalk reef, which is exposed at low water to reveal hundreds of rock pools teeming with wildlife. To the right you will see the vast expanse of sand, this area is now one of North Norfolk District Council's newly accredited Blue Flag Beaches.
During the bathing season the water quality is tested by the Environment Agency on a weekly basis to make sure the quality is excellent, gaining us a top Three Star rating, and that no litter is present on the foreshore.
In 2016 RNLI lifeguards started to man the beach during the busy summer season. Their hut is located on the right hand side at the bottom of the slope to the beach. The hut is manned daily by two lifeguards from 10am until 6pm.
